Who we are

AntCABar is operated by INTELLISTUDY LTD, a private limited company registered in England and Wales (company number 16344169), registered office 167-169 Great Portland Street, London W1W 5PF, United Kingdom. INTELLISTUDY LTD is the controller of your personal data under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. For anything about your data, write to [email protected].

What we collect

  • Account data: email address, display name, preferred language and time zone, and — if you sign in with Google or Apple — the identifier those providers share with us.
  • Study data: your answers, scores, notes, bookmarks, study plan and reading progress, and the essays, performance tests and tutor questions you submit. This is what makes the product work.
  • Billing data: handled by Stripe, which processes payments for INTELLISTUDY LTD. We store the Stripe customer and subscription identifiers and invoice amounts, never your full card number.
  • Technical data: IP address, browser and device information in server logs, used for security and rate limiting.
  • Purchase consent records: when you tick the box before a payment, we record the time, the version of the wording and the wording as it was shown to you in your language, the page language, your IP address and browser, the plan or order and its price, and the Stripe checkout session. This is our evidence of the terms you agreed to (for example if a payment is disputed).

How we use it

To provide the service, personalise your study plan, give feedback on the work you submit, send transactional email (sign-in codes, receipts, renewal reminders), improve our content, and — only if you opt in — send occasional study tips. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link.

Under the UK GDPR we rely on these legal bases: performance of our contract with you (your account, study data, feedback on your work, billing and service email), our legitimate interests (security, rate limiting and improving our content), your consent (study tips and other marketing email, which you can withdraw at any time) and legal obligations (tax and accounting records). Purchase consent records are kept to meet our legal obligations as a seller (including consumer-protection and automatic-renewal rules) and in our legitimate interest in being able to show what terms a customer agreed to.

Sharing

We share personal data only with the service providers needed to run AntCABar:

  • Stripe, for payments. Stripe also uses some payment data for its own fraud prevention and legal compliance, under its own privacy policy.
  • SendGrid, for the email we send you.
  • Cloudflare, for the email you send us.
  • Anthropic and OpenAI, the AI model providers that generate the feedback on essays and performance tests and the answers of the AI tutor (see "AI feedback and the tutor" below).
  • Google or Apple, if you sign in with them.
  • Our hosting providers.

We do not sell personal data. Some of these providers store data outside the UK, including in the United States; where they do, the transfer is made under the safeguards UK data protection law provides for it.

AI feedback and the tutor

When you submit an essay or a performance test for feedback, or ask the AI tutor a question, our server sends the request to Anthropic or OpenAI through our own server-side connection, so your browser never talks to them directly. What is sent: the text you wrote (your answer, or your question and the earlier messages of the same tutor conversation), the question or task it responds to, and the grading rubric or the textbook material the answer draws on. We do not add your name, email address or payment data. The provider returns the feedback or the tutor's answer, which we store with your work so you can read it again.

AI feedback and the tutor are optional. If you do not want your writing processed by these providers, do not submit work for AI feedback and do not use the tutor; the textbooks, the question bank, the study plan and the rest of AntCABar work without them.

Retention and deletion

You can delete your account from the account page. We remove personal data within 30 days, except records we must keep for tax and accounting, and purchase consent records. Purchase consent records are kept for 6 years from the purchase, including after you delete your account (at least as long as automatic-renewal law requires); after 6 years we erase the IP address and browser information in them.

Your rights

Under the UK GDPR (and the EU GDPR where it applies) you have the right to access, correct, export or delete your data, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to withdraw consent at any time. If you live in California, the CCPA gives you the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, to correct or delete it, and to opt out of its sale or sharing; we do not sell or share personal information, and we will not treat you differently for using these rights. To use any of these rights, email [email protected] from the address on your account. We answer within one month. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

Cookies

We use strictly necessary cookies (session, language preference, free-question counter). We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
